I was very excited to hear that the new hospital block for the Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre is to be inaugurated, together with the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, and I am sure that this will enable our research collaboration to become even stronger. It is a matter of great pleasure for Novo Nordisk and myself to note that you would be inaugurating the new hospital building for Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre in Chennai on 1 September 1997. Previously, your late father Prof Viswanathan and now you, are doing commendable work to improve the quality of diabetes care in your country. The new hospital Premises would be an important step in this direction.

Ever since I started to work in Asia, I have been impressed by Dr Mohan's diabetes clinic in Madras. It is clearly, not only in India, but also on a global scale, a diabetes centre of ,excellence.
